Today I've come back to working on the Coaling Stage and extension beyond. First tacks to completed was installing the railings around the extension. These are Ratio's 144 Hand Railings and work out at around 6' 6" high which when a ModulU figure is placed behind them they do look about the correct height.

Which is more than can be said for the staircase supplied with the Coaling Stage kit.....

Another part of the staircase that doesn't look right is the thickness of the railings.

Once I'd removed the existing handrails and reduced the height of the posts, I'd started to replicate the two rails per side. That was until browsing "A Pictorial Record of Great Western Architecture" when I noticed the staircases on the Oxley and Oswestry coaling stages hand only the handrail. I certainly feel it looks a lot better.
